CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT: NEEDS AND EXPECTATIONS - IPOH, PERAK

MSOSH with collaboration with Persatuan Pengamal Keselamatan, Kesihatan Pekerjaan dan Persekitaran Negeri Perak (POSHE) have organized the first ever joint venture training on Chemical Management: Needs and Expectations in Perak. Mr Shahrill Sulaiman as Deputy Director of DOSH Perak had done the honor of officiating the event.This training featured 3 experienced speaker in their field. The training focussed on 3 parts, the first topic on Chemical Health Risk Assessment is covered by Puan Harimah Hamdan, Principal Consultant of Nadi Lestari Consultants Sdn Bhd. The second main topic is on Medical Surveillance is covered by Dr Mohamad Azli, the health advisor at Petronas Chemical Fertilizer Kedah Sdn Bhd. The third area of focus is on CLASS Regulation Industrial Code of Practice by Dr Goh Cho Ta, Associate Professor Institute of Environment and Development (LESTARI), UKM. A total of 19 participants joined this program.
SEMINAR ON BEHAVIORAL SAFETY - THE WAY FORWARD - MIRI, SARAWAK

The program is jointly organised by Miri Occupational Safety and Health Practitioners Society (MOSHPS) and Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH). This is the first ever program that jointly organised by both NGOs. Tuan Haji Ir Saiful Azhar bin Mohd Said, Deputy Director General (Health), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) has officiated the program. The program has been participated by 65 people coming from Miri and nearby areas. Speakers are coming from MSOSH and MOSHPS with the various experiences and expertise in their professional fields
KIKEN YOCHI TECHNIQUE FOR MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY AND POKA YOKE SAFETY - MSOSH ACADEMY
Program: Kiken Yochi Technique for Manufacturing Industry and Poka Yoke Safety

Kiken Yochi Technique is an accident prevention technique to uncover hidden danger by using human sensories includes smell, hear and sight and also by utilizing the workforce. Meanwhile, poka yoke is a system use to minise the errors, mistake and defect of the hazard. This both technique expose the participant to use unique brainstorming method to uncover and eliminate the hazard at workplace towards achieving the objective of zero accident.

WORKPLACE HEALTH PROMOTION
On 16 October 2018 MSOSH was invited to Northport in conjunction with their Occupational Safety and Health Day 2018. Dr Shawaludin as MSOSH vice president was given the honor as the invited speaker. The topic delivered is on Top Management Commitment in Empowerment of OSH Committee which also includes on promoting healthy workplace program.
Workplace Health Promotion is a program initiated by PERKESO which consists of measures taken for NCDs prevention, as oppose to disease treatment. The purpose of this program is not only limited to the prevention of occupational health hazards, but also the improvement on the general health pf employees. Workplace are suitable for activities to promote healthy lifestyle because employees spend most of their time at workplace (more than 8 hours per day), they can benefits from group support system which includes their colleagues, and they will receive positive impact from encouragement and motivation by top management.
ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION & CORRECTIVE ACTION TRAINING - IIUM
This intensive one day training is conducted in Kuliyyah of Information and Communication Technology, IIUM and attended by 16 participants who is mostly part of the safety committee. The trainer for this program is Mr Zulkarnain Mohd Said who have almost 33 years of expensive experience and various expertise in oil and gas environment particularly on occupational safety and health aspect.
The training mainly covers on the principle of accident investigation focusing on the on site preparation strategy.
This program is essentially participative and practical, emphasizing learning through experience, both from structured activities on the program such as role plays, group work, video screening, case studies and discussion from individual experience.
